A splendid parkland course located along the winding and very picturesque River Mersey, just 3 miles from the City centre with easy access from the motorway system and Manchester International Airport.

At par 71 and almost 6500 yards in length it offers a challenge to the most discerning player and at the same time is a pleasure for the higher handicapper.

The lush tree lined fairways and manicured greens have been described as the best in the Greater Manchester area.

The first hole is a moderately short but tricky par 3 of 156 yards followed by two longish par 4s. The par 5 fifth is considered one of the finest golf holes in the North West which requires a combination of both skill and accuracy. From hereon you will begin to settle

down and enjoy your game and the beauty of your surroundings until you arrive at the daunting 14th, the stroke index 1, where Withington Golf Club begins its sting in the tail. The 16th is one of the longest par 5s in Cheshire and requires three good shots to the green and the 17th and 18th are two particularly good par 4s to finish.

Ladies Group Coaching

Sharpen your short game skills for the new season - Steve is starting two 5 week programmes. Tuesday sessions will last for five consecutive weeks commencing on the 17th February between 10:30-11:30 and Saturday sessions will aslo last for five consecutive weeks commencing on the 21st February between 2:30 and 3:30.

Steve has 30 years PGA experience having worked in the UK, Germany and latterly Florida in the USA. Steve enjoys coaching and playing and away from golf he is a keen Manchester United fan.

Andy Shaw: (left)

Having recently qualified as a PGA Professional, Andy’s main interests are coaching and playing. When away from work he enjoys taking part in other sports and following Manchester City.

Andy Parrington: (right)

Andy is currently working as Trainee Assistant and he is greatly looking forward to joining the PGA. Having left school and gone to college, he already has experience in a golf retail environment, and when qualified sees his future in golf coaching. Away from golf he enjoys a wide variety of sporting activities.

After a round of golf why not pop upstairs to the “19th hole” where our Stewardess Kathy and her staff will be pleased to serve you drinks from our well stocked bar. The atmosphere is very relaxed and provided that your clothing is clean and dry, you need only change out of your golf shoes. A selection of top quality coffees and hot chocolate is also available from our Rijo vending machine.

The lounge has a big screen where most sporting events can be viewed with the company and camaraderie of other sports fans. Alternatively you can enjoy a game of snooker.
